Prof. Volker Homberg

President - World Federation for Neuro Rehabilitation (WFNR)

Prof. Volker Hömberg underwent medical training at the Universities of Düsseldorf, Freiburg, and Boston Massachusetts. Prof. Hömberg played a pivotal role in establishing rehabilitation hospitals in Germany and abroad, including the St. Mauritius Therapy Clinic in Meerbusch near Düsseldorf.

 

Throughout his career, Prof. Hömberg held leadership positions in neurorehabilitation organizations, serving as the founder, president, and vice president of the German Society for Neurorehabilitation. He dedicated over 15 years as the Secretary General for the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation (WFNR) and was elected President Elect in 2020. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of the European Federation of Neurorehabilitation Societies (EFNR) and received an honorary doctorate from the Medical University of Cluj in 2017.

 

Prof. Hömberg is actively involved in the international scientific community, contributing as a regular reviewer and co-editor for numerous peer-reviewed journals. He plays a crucial role in organizing major neurorehabilitation meetings such as the World and European Neurorehabilitation Congresses (WCNR, ECNR). With a prolific publication record exceeding 250 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, along with numerous book chapters and books, his primary scientific interests include motor rehabilitation, cognition, and epistemology.
